MISSION STATEMENT

PWM is dedicated to providing the highest quality and most reliable cold welders and dies in the world. The company strives to provide consistently high standards of customer care, both before and after sales; to offer expert advice and support to all inquirers; to invest in on-going machine and die development programs; and to offer a committed response to the needs of the wire and cable industry.

COMPANY HISTORY

PWM was formed in 1984, when current managing director, Steve Mepsted, set up the business with colleague Trevor Sherwen. Today, the company is the world’s market leader in the design and manufacture of cold pressure welding equipment and dies. PWM owes its success to the quality and reliability of its products, the expertise and experience of its workforce and its ability to meet the needs of the wire and cable industry world-wide.

Cold pressure welding, developed in 1724, offers a fast, easy and economical method of bonding non-ferrous wire and strip without heat, fillers or fluxes. All PWM machines use the proven multiple upset technique, which ensures that all surface impurities are forced out of the weld area, allowing a metallurgical bond stronger than the parent material to be created.

Continuous investment in research and development has resulted in PWM having the most comprehensive range of cold pressure welders in the world.

KEY PERSONNEL

Steve Mepsted, Managing Director

With over 30 years’ experience of cold weld technology to his credit, Steve has acquired an extensive knowledge of different welding applications and solutions, wire drawing and rod breakdown machinery. He is always happy to share this expertise with customers and will always find time to personally provide them with any advice or support they require.

Carole Cole, Export Manager

Carole works directly with Steve, handling inquiries from customers throughout the world, as well as liaising with PWM’s network of agents and distributors. All sales and service requirements are co-ordinated by Carole, who gives her personal attention to customer care and product quality control.

PWM PRODUCT RANGE

HAND HELD WELDERS
PWM produces four different welders to accommodate welding requirements between .0039" and .079" diameter copper/aluminium. The M10, M25 and M30 models are all comfortable to hold and simple to use. The HP30 (pneumatic) machine provides an effortless weld on copper wire from .118" to .071" diameter and aluminium up to .079".
BENCH MOUNTED WELDERS
The BM10 Superfine, BM10 and BM30 are all manually operated machines. Robust and reliable, they offer welding capacities between .0039" and .071" copper/aluminium. These models can also be mounted on trolleys supplied by PWM.
TROLLEY MOUNTED WELDERS
The welding capacity of PWM’s trolley mounted machines ranges from .039" to .256" copper/aluminium. The M101 (manual) welder, which can also be bench mounted, is one of PWM’s most popular models in North America. The P101 is a pneumatic version with the same welding capacity. The HP100 and HP200 models are both air/hydraulic powered machines, easily activated by a foot pedal.
ROD WELDERS
PWM produces two freestanding rod welders, the EP500 (electro-pneumatic) and the P1500 (electro-hydraulic). These heavy-duty machines offer welding capacities of between .197" and 1.181" copper/aluminum.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
PWM’s new upgraded HP100 air/hydraulic welder, launched at wire 2004, is now equipped with a solid steel welding head for greater strength and durability. Visit www.pwmltd.co.uk for full details.
MACHINE DIES
Engineered by skilled craftsmen, all PWM dies are of the industry standard type. They are manufactured to suit round or profile wires and rods.
